Oral history interview with Manfred Selig, Oct. 30, 1980.

Selig begins by discussing his early years in Germany. He describes in detail difficulties encountered in obtaining exit visas for himself and his family. He also recounts their problems in traveling from Germany to the United States. Selig then discusses his business activities in retail and wholesale linens. He mentions his memberships in the Bikur Cholim Congregation and the Seattle Art Museum. He discusses his interest in art and how he started his now famous collection of paintings, etchings, engravings, and silver. He talks about his donations to the State Capitol Museum, the Seattle Art Museum, the Seattle Public Library, and the Seattle Center Playhouse. Selig describes some of the items in his silver and porcelain collections, especially items of Jewish interest.
